Description:
This is a church in a small village in Northeastern Romania. I can't remember the name of the village, but in it was one of the Painted Monasteries that are on the UNESCO World Heritage list. The closest "big" city was Suceava. We spent one day driving and seeing these monasteries, but I was also taken by the churches in each of the villages. Every small village seemed to have a church, much like this one. I wondered how old they were, but I couldn't tell if they were brand new (not likely) or hundreds of years old. The syle hasn't changed a lot over the last few centuries, but I suspect that because of political and financial issues, new construction on small village churches wasn't a top priority, so the churches were probably older than newer.

I tried to give this piece an "old time" feel to it. Basically, it's a drawing that started with a blank black background and drew in the color.
