Description:

The home of the first ruler of Romania, Alexander John Cuza. He was responsible for the unification of Wallachia and Moldavia, of which he was Prince of both. As ruler of Romania, he relieve (confiscated) much of the land holdings of the Church as much of the best farmland was owned by the Church and not subject to taxation. He also freed the serfs. This last move caused the wealthy to eventually rise up against him and sent him into exile in 1866
